Muneeza Muhammad, MD, FAAD, serves patients at Elite Dermatology in Vintage Park, and Houston Heights, Texas, as a board-certified dermatologist. She offers medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology care, including dermal fillers, neurotoxin injections, platelet-rich plasma, and much more.
Dr. Muhammad grew up in Binghamton, New York, and moved to Sugar Land, Texas, in 2000, where her family has been residing ever since. She went to the University of Texas at Austin, where she earned her BBA in Finance and graduated with honors, a distinction given to the top 20% of the McCombs School of Business graduating class. She spent her summers abroad in Pakistan and Nicaragua volunteering in medical clinics and was an active participant in UT Austin’s Global Medical Training chapter — an international humanitarian organization that provides free medical and dental services to medically deprived regions in Central American countries. Her love of giving back and working with kids also translated to summers spent being a camp counselor for local youth camps.
She then went to Baylor College of Medicine for medical school and continued to pursue her interest in global health as the BCM International Health Track Curriculum Committee Chair. Dr. Muhammad also continued her commitment to giving back to the community as a volunteer at the medical student-run HOMES Clinic.
Dr. Muhammad completed her internal medicine training at Baylor College of Medicine and became board-certified in Internal Medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine in 2017. She worked as a hospitalist for a year in northern California and then returned for her dermatology residency training at Baylor College of Medicine in 2018.
Dr. Muhammad finished her dermatology training at Baylor College of Medicine, working alongside and learning from world-renowned faculty. During her training, she published a textbook chapter and many articles, attended several conferences, and continued her love of giving back by volunteering at Camp Discovery (a camp that offers children with chronic skin conditions a one-of-a-kind experience).
Dr. Muhammad provides compassionate and professional care to patients of all ages. She believes in a personalized approach to each patient with their needs in mind. She’s an active member of the American Academy of Dermatology, Texas Medical Association, and Houston Dermatologic Society.

It’s amazing what medical therapy and strict sun protection can accomplish for melasma and sun spots. (Photos taken 3 months after initiating therapy).
My tips for melasma:
1. Use a tinted mineral sunscreen with a minimum SPF of 30. Remember 2 stripes on 2 fingers and reapply every 2 hours.
2. Remember blue light (from phones, TV and computer screens) can also affect melasma so sunscreen should be worn indoors as well!
3. Incorporate brightening ingredients into your skincare to MAINTAIN results (vitamin C, kojic acid, retinoids, tranexemic acid, arbutin, licorice root extract etc).
Always remember that melasma is a CHRONIC SKIN CONDITION. Although there is no cure, there are a lot of treatment options which should always be discussed and managed by a board-certified dermatologist.

It figures generations of South Asian women were onto something.
Studies show that although coconut oil does not increase hair growth, there are benefits regarding protein loss, breakage and COLOR PROTECTION (as compared with other popular hair oils like castor oil, argan oil, sunflower oil, and mineral oil).
I like to warm my coconut oil in the microwave and let it cool before applying to my hair (scalp to ends). I leave it in for a few hours before washing. You can also warm it up in your hands before applying.
I do this once a week to keep my curls moisturized and protect my color treated hair. Plus the scalp massage feels sooo good!
I highly recommend coconut oil as a pre-wash treatment to anyone with dry, damaged or color treated hair.

This lovely patient had Restylane-L placed in her lips previously but was getting the dreaded filler migration into her upper cutaneous lip.
I used 2 vials of hyaluronidase to dissolve the filler in the upper and lower lip and had her wait 2 weeks before we put a softer, more appropriate product in her lip (just 0.3cc Restylane Kysse). Even she noticed a change in how her lips felt with a different filler (“much softer”).
The choice of filler makes all the difference—so make sure you’re going to an injector who knows what they’re doing!
