Dr. Alkul’s distinguished medical journey includes a preliminary year in internal medicine at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, followed by dermatology residency and a Mohs surgery fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine. A native Texan, Dr. Alkul graduated with a remarkable 4.0 GPA from Texas Tech University, earning valedictorian honors. Her passion for dermatology ignited during her time at the Lubbock Impact Free Clinic, where she provided cost-free skin care and secured grants for essential surgical equipment.
Dr. Alkul has made significant contributions to the field by researching strategies to enhance patient comfort, minimize pain, and reduce anxiety during surgical procedures. She stays up-to-date on the latest advancements in Mohs surgery by attending every national conference held by the American College of Mohs Surgery. She is also active locally as a member of the Houston Dermatological Society and volunteer lecturer to dermatology residents at Baylor College of Medicine.
During medical school, Dr. Alkul influenced classes of future physicians as a Dean’s Ambassador and Admissions Committee member. She served as president of the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha honor society and was nominated by her peers for the Gold Humanism Honor Society, showcasing her commitment to patient-centered care.
Outside of her medical practice, Dr. Alkul enjoys exploring local coffee shops, baking cookies with her family, following Formula 1 racing closely, and challenging herself with difficult puzzles.
